Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenAt the age of 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series aired worldwide as The Killing, he subsequently appeared in two other internationally acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a lead role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In American TV series House of Cards, his role was that of the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is proficient in English, Swedish and German. He also speaks several accents. Mikkelsen claimed that his brother and he learned English initially through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching comedy sketches.
